My name is Yolanda Batres and I have been working as a Bilingual Teacher for more than 25 years here at Shields Elementary.  From the very beginning I knew that teaching was my true calling and that Shields would be my second home.  My expertise is to enable English Language learners to become competent in listening, speaking, reading and writing in the English language developing the academic skills needed to be successful in life.  In addition, I teach Math, Science and writing.  When I am not teaching I enjoy the quality time with my family  and our family dog.
