Important Change to our School Day Schedule for the 2025–26 School Year/Cambio importante a nuestros horarios de clases para el año escolar 2025-26
Dear Families,
Below you will find a communication from the CPS Student Transportation Team about changes to our school’s bell times for the 2025-26 school year. I urge you to review this communication carefully, as these changes will have an impact on our daily schedule for next year.
CPS is facing several issues going into next school year, including a continued shortage of school bus drivers and limited financial resources. The District is working on a number of solutions to address these challenges, including shifting bell times at a number of CPS schools for the 2025-26 school year.
The daily schedule forJames Shields Elementary School next school year will be as follows:
We thank you for your understanding as CPS works to achieve much-needed cost savings while maximizing bus transportation for those students who depend on it to get safely to and from school. We invite you to contact [email protected] with any questions about this schedule change, and wish you all a safe and enjoyable summer break.

- New Dismissal Time: 3:30 PM
- Effective Date: Monday, August 18, 2025
